Why a protein bar? Why does my dog need it?
Protein builds and maintains muscle. It also feeds energy, recovery, coat and immunity, and dogs need it every day. Home-cooked plates built on rice, roti and dal, and plenty of packaged food, can leave it thin. The bar tops it up the way dogs like best: as a treat. It doesn't replace meals, and you don't change how you feed.
Does my dog have a deficiency?
Only your vet can say for sure. What we can say is that most dogs in India eat less protein than the daily target, especially on plates built on rice, roti and dal. Thin muscle, a dull coat and slow recovery can point that way, but they have other causes too. Add up your dog's day with the table below, then talk to your vet.
What do common Indian diets give, against what a dog needs?
Working target: 2 to 2.5 g of protein per kg of body weight, per day. Here is what common foods add up to. Values are approximate.

How much protein does my dog need?
As a working target, ho.pe. uses 2 to 2.5 g of protein per kg of body weight a day. A 10 kg dog: 20 to 25 g. A 25 kg dog: 50 to 62 g. A 35 kg dog: 70 to 87 g. Puppies, seniors, pregnant or nursing dogs and dogs with health conditions can need something different, so ask your vet. One bar adds 12 g. It tops up the day, it doesn't cover it.

Small dogs get half a bar, snapped at the score line. Seniors lose muscle gradually, so protein matters for them too. For puppies, and for pregnant or nursing dogs, ask your vet first.
